Unit4, world leader in Student Management systems for Higher Education, today announced that Howard College has selected Unit4 Student Management on the Microsoft Azure Cloud to modernize its student management capabilities. Serving a diverse student base, the college will use Unit4 Student Management to streamline and centralize college processes across four campuses, while improving operational efficiency and increasing student and faculty engagement.
Howard College is a community college spanning 13 counties and 29 independent school districts in West Texas, including the deaf and hard-of-hearing community at the SouthWest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf. The college offers higher education courses at many local high schools and serves a variety of students living both on and off campus, including those looking for occupation-specific classes, continuing education, or making a career change. To accommodate the diversity of their students, Howard College requires a student management system with a high level of flexibility and accountability that can manage student records and financials from within a single system. Unit4 Student Management will replace the college’s 10-year-old legacy system, which is no longer supported and needed to be replaced.

“When we began the search for a new student management solution, we knew that we needed a robust system that would be able to handle our complex, multi-location campus, including the ability to accommodate the two separate tax codes needed for the SouthWest Collegiate Institute campus,” said Dr. Amy Burchett, VP of Academic and Student Affairs at Howard College. “Unit4 was the only Student Management offering that was able to meet these requirements with its out-of-the-box capabilities, while at the same time allowing us to tailor the solution as needed. Additionally, Unit4 is so intuitive and easy-to-use that we can implement the functionalities we need on our own, which is a requirement for us as we don’t have a large number of IT staff to support the system.”
Unit4 Student Management will provide Howard students and faculty with a seamless and intuitive digital and mobile experience across the entire academic lifecycle from admissions, course registration, housing and managing financial aid, to manage their interaction with the college, including accessing student records and submitting applications.
“We are very happy to be working with Howard College to modernize and streamline their student experience,” said Jami Morshed, Global Head of Higher Education, Unit4. “The self-driving and modern capabilities of the Unit4 solution will help to reduce manual and duplicate processes and allow the faculty to focus on what matters most – their students.”
