Unit4, a fast growing leader in enterprise applications for service organizations, today announced that the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) has selected Unit4 Business World to support its financial and project administration.
Unit4 won the European tender for NWO’s new financial and project system. NWO was particularly positive about Unit4 Business World’s ability to adapt to changing structures and sector-specific information needs. The scientific organization and its stakeholders set high standards for financial statements, which are regularly subject to change.
The NWO has the task of promoting scientific research in the Netherlands. Each year the organization distributes around 650 million euros to more than 5,800 scientific projects. The funds are provided by financiers and donors who place increasing demands on the use of their donations. The software that was previously used at NWO could not respond to that administrative complexity.
After a careful review process based on best value procurement NWO selected Unit4 Business World. During product demos, Unit4 consultants showed how its ERP solution could support NWO’s objectives and the rapid change the organization faces. Unit4’s ERP solution is designed to enable its users to make changes in the system simply and efficiently. This flexibility and ease of use of the software were a key motivation for NOW’s Unit4 Business World selection.
Roel Caers, Executive Director, Unit4, said: "Academic and research institutions deal with change regularly. There is increasing competition when it comes to funding and organizations operate on an international level more and more. As such they need to show more and more accountability for how funds are invested. Unit4 offers a company-wide solution designed to cope with change faced by organizations like NWO. Business World is a proven solution that adapts well to change and is therefore an excellent tool for research institutions to manage their administration, management information and accountability.”
