Unit4, a fast growing leader in enterprise applications for service organizations, is pleased to announce that Unit4 Business World has been named “Government/Utilities Solution of theYear” in the European IT & Software Excellence Awards 2015. Winners had to demonstrate understanding of the customer’s requirements and the ability to deliver the project on time while meeting or exceeding agreed customer targets.
Unit4’s submission met these criteria with its implementation of Unit4 Business World at Coventry City Council. The council’s ‘Money Matters programme’ uses the ERP solution to streamline back-office finance and procurement processes to improve the value for money and services taxpayers receive. Achieving Return on Investment (RoI) in just 154 days, the project has reached savings of nearly £4 million (approx.. €5.5 million) in less than two years. Additionally with its new flexible solution the council no longer needs to bring in costly external consultants to manage its back-office finance systems, this alone results in savings of £120,000 (approx. €165,000) per year.
“As a team we faced considerable funding challenges and we knew we had to act,” said Barry Hastie, Assistant Director Financial Management, Revenues and Benefits at Coventry City Council. “Unit4 Business World is people centric; so rather than focus exclusively on process it supports our employees with relevant information. As the RoI and our customer satisfaction surveys demonstrate, this approach works.”
The project came at a time when the city’s population was increasing but government funding was dropping by up to 15 percent per year.
“With 83 finalists representing 32 countries from across Europe, competition was certainly intense this year,” said John Garratt, chair of the judges’ panel for the European IT & Software Excellence Awards. “The judges were particularly pleased with the successful implementation of a large project at Coventry City Council. The rapid and considerable return on investment has raised the bar for public sector organizations across Europe.”
Unit4 is already one of the leading providers of back office solutions to local government across Europe with clients that include Bristol City Council, The City of Stockholm, and The State of Berlin. This momentum is growing as the public sector continues to seek technology that can help it adapt to change while delivering rapid RoI.
“Congratulations to the teams at Coventry and Unit4, it was a true partnership effort,” said Helen Sutton, Managing Director Unit4 UK. “This project righty deserves accolades. Coventry has demonstrated to its taxpayers and the wider public that technology can play a considerable role in delivering more effective services at a lower cost.”
