Transforming Unit4’s Finance and HR Functions

Posted by  Ray Leclercq

This week, I hosted a well-attended webinar providing advice to other CFOs and finance professionals undergoing business transformation projects. I make the point that the role of the CFO has changed – and it keeps changing. In times of increased stakeholder expectations, faster market dynamics and globalized business decisions, CFOs do not only have to adapt to a new role as business partner but also embrace the technology available to build their own solutions for a more empowered organization. As CFO of Unit4, I have been through this transformation and seen the benefits first hand. In a business-driven and technology-enabled project called OneVision finance, HR and projects worked together to deliver an integrated approach. This has brought Unit4 to a new level of maturity resulting in increased operational excellence, faster insights and more impactful decisions.

During the webinar I shared my experiences on how to take standardization, analysis and self-service to a new level and the vital role of technology in such a project. A recording of the webinar is available here.

This month, on the back of my experiences, I was interviewed for Capgemini’s quarterly global Business Services newsletter Innovation Nation. We discussed the strategic imperative to transform the finance and HR functions, and how to best ensure the desired outcomes including consolidation, cost control, streamlining processes and ensuring employee support throughout the process.

You can download the newsletter here to read the full interview discussing the challenges and rewards of Unit4’s transformation process so far.
