Our first Unit4 Cares Kids Sports Day

We at Unit4 are ‘in business for people’. That’s what our tagline says and it is not only what we do every day when we focus on making our software self-driving and easy to use, but it is also how we approach our CSR activities. Within Unit4, we have a long history of CSR initiatives in all of our countries and we are now bundling those into a global program.
On Friday 17 June, we kicked off our Global CSR Initiative by hosting a Volunteering Day in Utrecht and Rotterdam: the Unit4 Cares Kids Sports Day. Together with the Nederland Cares Foundation, we planned a sports day for 350 school children from our communities. We picked out schools that would normally not be able to organize this type of sports day. And what a special sports day they had. We wanted the children to benefit not only from participating in familiar sports (football, hockey, dance) but also new activities such as boot camp, taekwondo, capoeira, hurdle jumping and even tightrope walking!
Our aim was to show these children that sports are healthy and fun while giving them a day to remember. And fun it was! Not only to exercise with these kids, but also to connect and ‘work together’ with our colleagues on a completely different level. The children had a dream day, but we as colleagues benefited too – we came closer together while working together and trusting each other in these sports activities. As an employer, you can only dream of having such devoted and energetic staff.
This was the kick-off and now we are passing on the Olympic torch to the next country organizing their event. I’m sure the energy will spread, and that we will all be united in the fact that Unit4 Cares.
