Unit4 has announced that Wigan Council has purchased the Unit4 Invoice4 solution as part of its objectives to drive process efficiency, automation and transformation within the Accounts Payable and Purchase to Pay processes.

The Invoice4 solution will enable the council to scan incoming paper invoices and automatically import invoices that are received by email, once imported the Invoice4 solution will use intelligent data capture technologies to extract key information and identify invoice exceptions at the earliest opportunity. By adopting Invoice4, purchase invoices will be received into the Unit4 ERP solution faster, with less effort and greater accuracy. It will also provide easy and rapid access to the electronic images held in the council’s existing Unit4 ERP solution and deliver a structured process for managing highlighted exceptions.

“We have been looking at what further improvements could be made to the Accounts Payable and Purchase to Pay processes, with a key objective being to make the processes more efficient,” said Richard Gibson, Strategic Finance Manager for Financial Transactions and Systems at Wigan Council. “As a UNIT4 customer, we explored a number of options, but found that the Invoice4 solution addressed all of our key requirements. We needed something that would seamlessly integrate and provide us with a scalable platform, addressing our key current requirements but also providing us with peace of mind that the solution will match our future needs. It was also refreshing to see that Intelligent Capture and UNIT4 had developed a strong strategic partnership, delivering a solution designed specifically to address UNIT4 customers’ needs.”

Invoice4 is a Unit4 solution, powered by strategic partner Intelligent Capture, a PROACTIS Group company. The long-term partnership has seen both organisations work closely to design and develop seamlessly integrated, modular solutions and services aimed specifically at UNIT4 customers for Accounts Payable, Purchase to Pay and wider processes.

“Wigan Council, like many organisations, is looking to drive process efficiency and cost reductions,” commented Helen Sutton, Sales and Marketing Director for the UK and Ireland at Unit4. “Invoice4 clearly delivers against these objectives and we are increasingly being approached by customers looking to take advantage of this.”

As the solution is modular, the council has the option to generate further efficiencies, for example it could look to receipt invoices in other formats like XML and scan other types of documents aside from invoices, both within finance and other departments.

Unit4 is already the leading provider of back-office solutions to the local government sector in both the UK and Ireland. This latest deal underlines the continued success of its strategy to build a partner eco-system of solutions that provide tangible business value to both customers and prospects.
