The Commercial Sector at Unit4 Connect Conference 2018

Posted by  Sam Quelch

Unit4’s annual Connect conference takes place this October 2018. We’re delighted to showcase our organisation, and discuss our role in customers’ and partners’ digital transformation - our technologies are playing an ever bigger part in taking care of business, helping service-focused organisations be more efficient and productive. Connect 2018’s theme is Creating Space. Unit4’s business software allows an organisation’s people to spend more time on the meaningful, purposeful work, that makes them feel valued and fulfilled. For professional services, this means more time to provide more added value to clients, without added cost.

State-of-the-art Professional Services Automation

To stay competitive, professional service firms have no choice but to embrace the latest technologies. Legacy ERP systems were created for manufacturing and product-based industries, which means they aren’t designed for dynamic service organisations. They can’t cope with the people-centric demand.

Successful PSA needs intuitive user experience and a flexible architecture that can scale with the business so as not to hamper innovation. People and business processes should not conform to software restraints, but should instead be enabled by them.

Efficient management of the end-to-end project lifecycle makes it easier to plan, track, and learn. A unified solution means...

  • Sales and project teams can record and report on the pipeline across all stages from opportunity, to bid, to “won”
  • Management and HR can track the availability of resource for allocating the right people, teams and capabilities to a project
  • Cash, loads, and profit contribution can be reliably forecast for corporate-wide KPIs and project portfolio analysis
  • The funnel-to-cash cycle is shortened by bringing together timesheets, expenses, invoices, payments with reduced human intervention

Creating space for innovation: The benefits of Cloud

As well as the potential to save money, organisations have been drawn to cloud technologies in recent years because of the flexibility it offers. An organisation’s technology should match its wider strategic objectives, including lead management and customer service.

The cloud easily accommodates change, is quickly scalable, and software updates can be rolled out and adopted globally with minimal disruption. Organisations benefit from the latest iterations of software, the latest innovations, and “version-lock” is eliminated because customisations can be automatically migrated through a new upgrade.

The IT department no longer has to worry about the infrastructure their software is running on, managing databases, managing business software, performance tuning, or compliance. They can therefore can spend more time on supporting valuable business processes.

Digital, self-service technology is no longer a nice-to-have

The usability and capability of business applications is improving so fast that staying up-to-date is more important than ever. In such a competitive climate, if you want to gain an advantage, it’s absolutely imperative to upgrade.
