Medicine Hat selects UNIT4 Agresso as demonstrated leader in Canadian municipal sector

Oracle unable to match Agresso’s responsiveness to change

Victoria, BC and Manchester, NH,

UNIT4 Business Software, the North American subsidiary of UNIT4, the global leader in software that supports business change, today announced a $2.3M agreement with the City of Medicine Hat to provide UNIT4 Agresso Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. The agreement includes delivery of a fully-integrated solution including financial management and budgeting, HR and payroll, procurement, project costing and billing, field asset management and comprehensive reporting.

Medicine Hat is a dynamic, full-service Alberta city that strives to be “a community of choice” for its over 61,000 residents. In an effort to improve decision making and optimally allocate resources, the city elected to replace its existing Oracle/JD Edwards solution to gain access to more timely information. Following a comprehensive review, Medicine Hat chose UNIT4 Agresso over other Tier I ERP providers because of Agresso’s demonstrated success in the Canadian marketplace and its ability to respond to business change quickly and inexpensively.

“UNIT4 Business Software has an impressive track record in the Canadian public sector,” states Brian Mastel, general manager of finance at the city of Medicine Hat. “Agresso has helped many other cities adapt to the same challenges we face – access to the right information in a timely manner leading to informed and sound decision making across the organization. Agresso will provide what we need and is agile enough to continue delivering as our requirements evolve,” he adds.

With 13 municipal government customers in Western Canada, UNIT4 Business Software continues to expand its presence in the public sector. “Local governments choose Agresso because they can operate it themselves without costly external consultants and they can enjoy efficient, enterprise-wide visibility across their resources,” notes Shelley Zapp, CEO of UNIT4 Business Software. “The public sector is under constant pressure to deliver services and control costs even when frequent changes are required and that is the environment in which Agresso thrives,” she adds.

The city expects to go live on the system in 2015.
