Sunshine Coast Regional District

Welcome Sunshine Coast Regional District to our Customer Community

Posted by  Scott Kamieneski

I’m really pleased to welcome the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) in British Columbia (north of Vancouver) to our customer community.

SCRD is a diverse regional government that includes three municipalities (Gibsons, Sechelt, and the Sechelt Indian Government District) and five electoral areas, serving over 28,000 residents. While it’s just a one-and-a-half hour trip from downtown Vancouver, it’s on a peninsula accessible only by ferry that makes it a world of its own. In addition to a haven for artists, the Sunshine Coast is home to an economically vibrant First Nation (Sechelt, or shíshálh), many young families, and retirees from across Canada.

SCRD selected Unit4 Business World, a complete ERP solution, to support its long-term vision of implementing collaborative decision making, financial sustainability, fairness and equity, engagement, transparency and accountability, and responsive public service. Their ERP solution is fully integrated with the latest developments from Milestone 5 plus financial management, project management, procurement, and HR & payroll. SCRD cites our functionality designed to improve business processes and create efficiencies through automation as the key influencer in their selection of Unit4 over our competitors.

“Unit4 will empower our people and enable us to make changes in the system after implementation using its Extend-and-Relate foundation. This matters a great deal ‒ because change is constant,” Sharon Heppner, IT and GIS Manager for SCRD, told us. “We will be able to deliver much improved service to the public, which will be achieved through automation of repetitive tasks, better organization of information and integrated workflow.”

As our fourth BC regional district and one of more than 1,500 municipalities and cities world-wide, SCRD joins a vast public sector community at Unit4. If you haven’t already, please check out the vlog post by Robin Wishart from the City of Port Coquitlam (Parts 1 and 2) talking about his experience and decision points when moving the city’s Unit4 Business World to the cloud. We also have some more public sector announcements coming up in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, welcome to Sunshine Coast! We’re glad to have you on board!
