Adoption Advisory: turning what you already have into measurable value

Adoption is where value really happens

Most customers don’t need more ERP. They need to get more value from what they already have. That’s the thinking behind Adoption Advisory, a structured, outcome focused approach to helping customers step back, reflect, and improve how ERP supports their goals.

This isn’t about upselling. It’s about ensuring the capabilities you’re entitled to are used in ways that genuinely improve business outcomes.

What we mean by platform adoption

For us, platform adoption means sustained, measurable use of ERP capabilities that improve business outcomes. That might sound simple — but in practice, adoption is often where complexity, workarounds, and inefficiencies build over time. Adoption Advisory creates space to address that, proactively, not reactively.

Starting with the “why”

Every Adoption Advisory engagement begins with a simple question: Why now?

Common triggers include:

  • Long running processes that feel inefficient

  • High error rates or manual workarounds

  • Preparing to scale or modernize

  • Considering a move to ERPx

Each of these is a valid starting point, and each requires a slightly different lens.

A structured, insight led approach

We don’t come into these conversations cold. Before the first workshop, we:

  • Review system telemetry and usage statistics

  • Look at volumes, sequences, and error patterns

  • Combine this with customer input via a short questionnaire

This allows us to bring instant insights to the very first discussion, grounding conversations in data rather than assumptions.

Collaboration at the right levels

Adoption Advisory deliberately brings together:

  • Senior stakeholders to align priorities and sponsorship

  • Subject matter experts to explore real world usage and constraints

This combination ensures recommendations are both strategically relevant and practically achievable. We don’t just look at isolated process steps. We consider upstream dependencies, downstream impacts, reporting, maintenance, and long-term sustainability.

From insight to action

The outcome of Adoption Advisory is not a presentation; it’s a prioritized backlog of recommendations.

Customers can:

  • Execute changes themselves

  • Work with Unit4 or a partner

  • Track progress over time using the same baseline insights

And because the insights persist, future advisory engagements can measure improvement, not just repeat analysis.

Adoption as a continuous journey

Adoption isn’t a one-off activity. It’s an ongoing process of alignment between business needs and platform capability. When combined with the structure of the Success Catalog, Adoption Advisory helps customers move confidently from possibility to execution, and from execution to measurable value.

If you’d like a deeper look at how the Success Catalog is structured and how it helps clarify what’s possible at each stage of the journey, I’d recommend reading my colleague Duncan Harper’s blog, where he explores how the catalog was designed and how customers can navigate it with confidence.
