Unit4 cookies policy

  • USE OF COOKIES

Unit4 N.V. and its affiliated companies (“Unit4”), use cookies. A cookie is a small file that is placed on the hard disk of your computer by a server and can only be recognized by that specific server. Some cookies process personal data. Cookies cannot harm your computer or the data on it. Please continue reading to find out more.

  • DIFFERENT KINDS OF COOKIES

There are different kinds of cookies. Some cookies make it easier for you to navigate on a website or make it easier to remember things, for example usernames, passwords or (language) preferences. Other cookies register website usage to optimize your browsing experience.

    Third-party cookies

We allow third-party companies to collect some of your personal data when you visit our website. These companies may use your personal data during your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that are likely to be of interest to you. To learn more about this behavioral advertising practice, you can visit www.networkadvertising.org. You can turn off third party cookies from the cookie settings menu.

The cookies used by our websites have also been categorized to help you better manage them while using our websites:

    Strictly Necessary Cookies

‘Strictly Necessary Cookies’ are necessary for the website to function properly and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms .

You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but then some parts of the website will not work.

These cookies do not process any personal data.

    Performance Cookies

‘Performance Cookies’    allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our website. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the website. Third party cookies are included in this category.

If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our website, and will not be able to monitor its performance in order to offer you a better service.

All information these cookies process is aggregated and, therefore, anonymous.

    Functional Cookies

‘Functional Cookies’ enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. An example of a functional cookie is one that stores session-based information on ‘Live-chat’, a third party application which allows the visitor to talk directly with a member of the Unit4 team and keep this conversation private. If you do not allow these cookies, then some or all of these services may not function properly.

    Targeting Cookies

‘Targeting Cookies’ may be placed on our website by our advertising partners   (third parties). These cookies are used by Unit4 and third parties to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on Unit4 and other (third party) websites    .

The Targeting Cookies are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. The purpose of this personal data processing is to offer you targeted advertising and show you the most relevant content for you.

If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising.

    Social Media Cookies

‘Social Media Cookies’ are set by a range of social media services (third parties) that we have added to the website to enable you to share our content with your friends and network. We also share information about your use of our website with our social media partners who may combine it with other information which they have acquired on you.

These cookies are capable of tracking your browser across other websites and building up a profile of your interests. This may impact the content and messages you see on other websites and platforms you visit. If you do not allow these cookies, you may not be able to use or see these sharing tools.

  • What is it?

Unit4 N.V. and its affiliated companies (“Unit4”), use cookies. A cookie is a small file that is placed on the hard disk of your computer by a server and can only be recognized by that specific server. With the “Strictly Necessary Cookies” we do not collect any personal data. However, with the rest of the cookies’ categories there is personal data collection and processing, which only happens after we have acquired your explicit, informed and freely given consent.

    Why we collect it:

There are different kinds of cookies. Some cookies make it easier for you to navigate on a website or make it easier to remember things, for example usernames, passwords or (language) preferences. Other cookies register website usage to optimize your browsing experience.

    How we collect it:

The data is collected via unique cookies laid down within your web browser.

    How long we keep it:

Unit4 does not store your personal data longer than is legally permitted and necessary for the purposes for which the data were collected. The storage period depends on the nature of the information and the purposes of processing. The maximum period may therefore vary per use. However, it will be automatically deleted if we do not have a legal ground to process it for a longer period or if you wish to be forgotten and no longer be tracked when visiting our web sites and have clicked on the delete button. This will delete your personal data stored on our system as well as delete the unique cookie/s stored on your web browser. In the case of our web optimization cookies we store the data for 13 months. After this period the data is then overwritten (no longer available). This duration of 13 months is to allow the business to report and analyze comparable trend data over a period of one year, thus, allowing the Unit4 organization to build a better and more usable web experience. The period of 13 months is exactly 13 months to allow Unit4 to compare for example January 2017 with January 2018, February 2017 with February 2018, and so on.

  • Why we collect it:

This personal data, along with time stamp allows us to better understand the number of web visitors originating from specific geographic locations. It enables us to present visitors to our sites with the most relevant content.

    How we collect it:

The data is collected via the unique cookie laid down within your web browser. This is stored in the system under the following headings:

    • Visitor: the unique ID assigned to your cookie
    • TargetingData: Continent, Country and latitude/longitude of the nearest DSL exchange/beacon
    • Timestamp: time of visit presented in Unix format (e.g. 1527866236 is 1st Jun @3:17pm (UTC))

The data is collected via the unique cookie laid down within your web browser. This is stored in the system under the following headings:

    • Devicetype: the device used to view the website (mobile/tablet/laptop/desktop)
    • Useragent: Operating system and web browser version (e.g. Windows, Chrome/66.0.3359.181)

    How we collect it:

The data is collected via the unique cookie laid down within your web browser. This is stored in the system under the following headings:

    • LastAccessedTime: time of visit presented in Unix format (e.g. 1527866236 is 1st Jun @3:17pm (UTC))
    • Newvisit: Has the person visited the site before or not

    • PathInfo: Page path details (e.g. /about/terms-and-conditions/gdpr/visitor-data)
    • MarketingPersona: a character created by the system built upon the details highlighted above. This works on a points scale so the more pages you visit around a specific catgegory/product the higher your point score will be based on that information (e.g. the more Education based pages visited will increase your points in that area and likely place you into an 'Education visitor' based persona)
