Why is the ‘digital downgrade’ at work still an important topic?

from  September 10, 2019 | 1 min read

When I speak to people around me about their biggest frustrations at work, one comment that often comes up is that they are being ‘digitally downgraded’. The surprising thing, though, is that this has been a discussion topic for a long time already. Aren’t we passed that?

We live in a hyper-connected world, and digital connections are more important in our work life than ever before. Yet many organizations are not creating the digital experiences their workforce wants, and that is necessary to stay competitive as a business. There is a gap between the way people use technology to enhance their home and personal lives, and the digital services they can access in their workplace.

This topic is even more interesting in relation to cloud migrations — another topic that has been around for many years and one which is an enabler for digital innovation, but still not consumed by everyone, thereby resulting in a lack of major digital business benefits being harvested.

I discussed this topic with our marketing director, Camilla Emlé, at one of our recent events, and I want to share my views with you, and why I think adopting cloud technologies can be a way to solve the digital downgrade at work.

Embracing the cloud is a big leap for most businesses. Many realize its advantages, and the necessity to have a cloud strategy in place, but don’t know where to start.
