Professional cyclist Alex Dowsett joins Unit4 team for The Prince’s Trust Palace to Palace 2016 event

Bristol, UK – 27th September 2016 - Unit4, a fast growing leader in enterprise applications for service organizations, today announced that professional and world class cyclist Alex Dowsett will join 31 members of the Unit4 UK team, for the start of The Prince’s Trust Place to Palace 2016 cycle ride on Sunday 2nd October 2016.

The Palace to Palace is an annual event inviting cyclists to embark on either a 45 -or 90-mile route, taking in the sights of London including Buckingham Palace and Richmond Park before heading into the beautiful Surrey countryside towards the finish line alongside Windsor Castle. The aim being to raise funds to support The Trust’s projects with young, disadvantaged people across the UK.

This will be the fifth time a Unit4 team has taken part. But 2016 will be a very special year with Alex joining the team for the start of the event. Alex Dowsett is an exceptional athlete. In May last year he broke the world record for the longest distance cycled in one hour, aptly named ‘Alex Dowsett’s Perfect Hour’. He is a five-time national time trial champion, he’s won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2014, and he also won the 2015 Bayern-Rundfahrt. And he has achieved this tremendous success while also living with haemophilia, a genetic blood disorder.

Inspired by his story, Unit4 signed a sponsorship deal with Alex in 2015 and also makes regular donations to his Little Bleeders foundation, which he set up to support other young people living with blood disorders.

When Alex heard that Unit4 was taking part in the Palace to Palace he was keen to get involved as he explains: “I’m looking forward to joining the Unit4 team for the start of this iconic Place to Palace charity cycle ride. I am very keen to encourage everyone to take up cycling and it’s great that during this event the cyclists can combine getting fit and active with raising money to support The Prince’s Trust’s amazing work with young, disadvantaged people across the UK. Good luck everyone and especially team Unit4.”
