Unit4, a fast growing leader in enterprise applications for service organisations, today announced that Milton Keynes Council, which recently joined the LGSS in a strategic partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council and Northamptonshire County Council, will also be using Unit4 Business World to underpin back office functions.
Milton Keynes Council became a full partner with LGSS and a member of the LGSS Joint Committee in April 2016. LGSS is one of the largest shared services in the UK. It has more than 1,400 staff providing professional, transactional and operational services to member councils and other local authorities, NHS bodies, adult care services, housing associations and schools. Like these organisations, Milton Keynes will also implement Unit4 Business World to underpin Finance, Procurement, Human Resources and Payroll services.
So that organisations can be more productive and improve services, the partnership aims to find new and improved ways of working by sharing best practice, knowledge and expertise. It expects to collectively save more than £4.47m over the next four years through combined economies of scale, for co-designing and procuring new systems. The partnership will also benefit from joint buying power, which will reduce both running costs and capital invested.
LGSS and Unit4 announced a technology partnership in 2015 whereby 10,000 users would move to the Unit4 ERP platform.
“LGSS and Milton Keynes are forward thinking, and have a great business model which can be replicated quickly and efficiently,” said Derren Nisbet, Managing Director of Unit4 UK&I. “It’s an example of the public sector working for the public sector to deliver greater value to citizens and I am sure we will see much more of this over the coming years.”
