Utrecht, Netherlands, 17th September, 2015 – Unit4, a fast growing leader in enterprise applications for service organizations, and LGSS, one of the largest shared services in the UK jointly owned by Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire County Councils, today announced that they are to work in partnership to build a ‘best-in-class’ ERP platform for public sector shared services. LGSS believe it will enable them to save millions of pounds for the founding partners and customers that share the services.
Unit4 Business World will underpin the Finance, Procurement, Human Resources and Payroll services that are operated by LGSS on behalf of its customers, which include local authorities, NHS, Adult Care Services, housing associations and schools.
LGSS, which has 1400 staff, was established in October 2010 by the merger of both organizations’ Corporate Services operations into a single, shared service; it provides professional, transactional and operational services to both county councils as well as its customers.

“Across sectors there are significant funding challenges” said John Kane, Managing Director for LGSS. “Unit4 is the right choice to support our ambition to be the partner of choice across the public sector in the region. Its flexibility and cross-sector capability mean that our customers will be better positioned to meet financial and efficiency targets. Additionally we needed a true partner and Unit4’s team demonstrated a willingness to take the same approach.”

10,000 users across multiple geographies will be able to access valuable information anytime, anywhere, on any internet enabled device.
“LGSS is one of the largest and most successful shared services organizations in the UK,” said José Duarte, CEO of Unit4. “We are delighted that we have been selected. It is another example of a leading public sector organization that sees Unit4 as a means to redirect resources from the back office to frontline services. Our systems are built with people in mind, designed to self-drive as much as possible creating a great user experience and freeing them to focus on delivering effective frontline services.”
This latest deal underlines Unit4’s position as the leading provider of back-office systems to the local government sector in the UK.
